Today, almost every fixture in the home is chosen for its functionality and aesthetics. Basin tap designs and features have evolved, doing shopping for one difficult. Since they last for years, you should get the best basin tap.

Here are some of the standard basin taps in Singapore:

Pillar Taps

Pillar taps are traditional taps commonly used in homes and offices for years. They usually come in pairs, one for cold water and another for hot water. In most parts of Asia, including Singapore, they are known as mono or cold Taps.

These taps are losing popularity because they don’t allow users to have warm water. It is either cold or scalding hot. It is slowly being phased out in Singapore because modern buildings have hot water supply pipes. Taps with temperature control limiters for hot, cold, and warm water have gradually replaced pillar taps.

Wall-Mounted Taps

As the name suggests, wall-mounted taps are fitted in the wall, just above the bathroom sink. It is one of the best basin taps for a minimalist look. They are especially ideal for small spaces because they save space and keep the sink area from appearing crowded.

Wall-mounted taps are also great for complimenting the decor because they stand out.

Mixer Taps

Mixer taps have become the go-to basin taps because you can get hot, warm, and cold water from the same fixture. There are two types of mixer taps.

  • Mono mixer taps. Mono mixer taps are single units with single or dual handles with a single spout. The water temperature is adjusted in the tap before the water is released through the spout.
  • Two-hole basin mixers. These mixer taps have two installation holes controlling hot and cold water.

Sensor Taps

Sensor taps are also called touchless taps. These are often preferred because they are efficient, have a predetermined flow rate, and are hygienic. They also save water because it stops flowing when you move your hands away from the tap.

Since the pressure is controlled, there is no splashing, so the bathroom sink remains spotless. Sensor taps are trendy in public washrooms.

Deck-mounted Taps

Deck-mounted taps are similar to traditional basin taps but have a more modern look. The taps often sit on the sink and have unique designs. They also have a range of finishes to complement the decor in your space. For example, you can get bespoke deck-mounted taps if you prefer retro or minimalist decor.

Waterfall Taps

Waterfall basin taps differ from other taps because instead of a controlled stream, these taps have an elegant design with a cascade of water. The spout controls the temperature and water pressure. These taps are popular because they are attractive centrepieces in the bathroom or wash area.

These are some of the most popular basin taps. The type you choose will depend on the bathroom sink because some need one, two, or three holes for installation. So, before fitting the sink, you need to know the type of tap you want.
